Spring round schedule
After an exceptionally unpredictable and whimsical winter this year, spring is approaching and it’s full of events. Not only is nature coming to life again but also it’s the start of the PLL’s spring round!
The end of the 2011/2012 season promises to be interesting, full of lacrosse excitement. We present the Hussars’ schedule for the nearest three months.
An overdue game with the Krakow Dragons will be played first in the second weekend of March. The Poznanians will have a chance to test the Dragons. Since entering the league they’ve made a lot of progress, proof of this is in the win against Warsaw’s Grom in the previous round.
The following game will be a matchup between “master and pupil”, in other words the Hussars vs. Ravens Lodz. This is going to be a friendly game and good opportunity for Poznan’s team to test the skills of its mentee. The team from Lodz is young and quickly gaining experience. In every consecutive PLL game, the Ravens move up in ranks. It’s going to be an interesting show in Poznan.
In April, Poznan will undertake an undoubtedly fierce encounter with last year’s PLL second place winners - Kosynierzy Wroclaw, they’re dangerous rivals. Both teams, Poznan and Wroclaw, show equal game skills and both are prime candidates for winning this year’s league trophy. The Hussars unfortunately never managed to conquer Wroclaw on their home turf, losing 8:6 in the autumn round. Will fortune smile upon the winged warriors this time? We believe so and count on an intense fight from Poland’s champions.
Fourth in line to battle Poznan will be Warsaw’s Grom. The capital’s team saw a fall in form this season, but it’s important to note that they’re quite aggressive and dangerous on home turf as the autumn round game against Kosynierzy Wroclaw proved. Poznan’s players will march on Warsaw April 21 laden with arms and ready to fight.
The last game to be played on Poznan’s field will be against Krakow’s Dragons. If the Poznan Hussars overcome the challenge and conquer all their rivals, they will be celebrating the defence of their championship title at home.
After a holiday break, the Hussars aren’t wasting any time and are preparing for the spring round. The team’s ranks are expanding with the influx of new players who show promise and are effectively increasing the level of play.
