Lacrosse clinics for Ravens Łódź!

On the 26th of June our “younger brother” – the Ravens Lodz – played his first game! The team from the capital of Poland – Grom Warszawa – was their opponent. The day before there was a lacrosse clinic led by the Hussars players.

The team from Lodz gathers experience in very good pace. During the ten months of their existence they participated in Polish National Team tryouts, played in the international tournament Silesia Cup held in Wroclaw and some of the players supported the Krakow Dragons team during the games of Polish Lacrosse League. The first game as Ravens Lodz against Grom was their next step.

To prepare themselves properly to this game, Igor Pruchniewski and Mateusz Antczak organized a training camp for their team in the “Tatanka” Indian Village. Four players from Poznan Hussars responded to their invitation and came to Lodz: Marcin Basinski, Pawel Hamrol, Krzysztof Hamrol and Szymon Kowalewski. They introduced Ravens to various offensive plays as well as repeated all the basics.

On the 26th of June the Ravens played their first lacrosse game. Unfortunately only six players from Warsaw came to Lodz so 3 of the Hussars players played with Grom. Krzysztof Hamrol was the main referee.

The game started at 5 PM. The visitors had a better start scoring two goals. However the hosts started using the tactical plays learned the day before and managed to score also two goals by Mateusz Antczak and Lukasz Sobczak. The next quarters were even more fierce and exciting. For Ravens scored: Igor Pruchniewski, Kacper Andrzejczak, Lukasz Sobczak and Bartek Antczak. After the third quarter there was a tie: 6:6.

The support of the gathered fans gave the hosts extra strengths! Szymon Baginski scored twice and gave his team the lead 8:6. However Grom Warsaw supported by three players from Poznan managed to score three more goals and won the whole game 9:8.

“The first game of Ravens was something extraordinary! I am pleasantly surprised to see the improvement of their skills. I hope they’ll join PLL really soon.” – said Krzysztof Hamrol, defensemen from Poznan.

Despite their loss the team from Lodz was glad that they were able fight against much more experienced team as even. Both offensive and defensive players gathered a lot of experience. The scrimmage was essential to move a level up in the development of a team.
