The Birth of a team: Poznan Hussars Ladies

The commitment and love of the sport among women resulted in the creation of a new lacrosse spot in Poland. Poznan Hussars Ladies joined the group of Polish women’s lacrosse teams.

Poznan’s female lacrosse team was created on the 17th of December 2009. On that date a group of determined girls decided to ask for help from the Poznan Hussars to set up a women’s team. Currently the team has 17 players who practice regularly at least twice a week.

Michal Filipek is our coach who usually plays for the Kosynierzy Wroclaw. However, he wasn’t afraid to take on a challenge and began working with the Hussars Ladies. We are very thankful and we want to reward his hard work with wins only!

It is necessary to point out that women’s lacrosse differs significantly from the men’s version. It is less aggressive but offers just as much satisfaction and emotions. Also the equipment differs a lot. The head’s mesh is shallower than in the men’s version; instead of helmets and pads we have goggles; women’s gloves and mouthguards.

Our main mission, besides creating a well organised team, is to develop and promote women’s lacrosse, and encourage as many girls as possible to join the team and participate in the life of the team.

If you’re interested in joining our team just email us atrekrutacja@poznanhussars.pl. We need you!!! The only thing you need to bring with you is a sense of humour and sports clothes and we’ll prepare the rest: the equipment and the necessary help in learning the basics of this wonderful sport. Don’t be afraid to try; it’s really worth it!
